IP Address

A unique identifier for each networked device on the internet.

This identifier is needed to route data correctly on the internet. It tends to be stable for some time (days or weeks) or until the device connects differently to the internet (e.g. through a different internet service provider).

It is considered Personally Identifiable Information in many jurisdictions.
